A Ukraine International Airlines Boeing 737 jet has crashed shortly after takeoff from Tehran’s international airport in Iran, en route to the Ukrainian capital Kiev.
All 176 people on board were killed, including 167 passengers and nine crew members.
The Ukrainian Embassy in Tehran replaced its earlier statement saying terrorism or rocket attacks had been ruled out as causes of the crash.
«Information on the causes of the plane crash is being clarified by the commission,» it said.
Data from flight-tracking service FlightRadar 24 suggests the crash could have happened as quickly as two minutes after takeoff.
The victims include 82 Iranians, 63 Canadians, 11 Ukrainians, 10 Swedes, four Afghans, three Germans and three British nationals, Ukraine’s foreign minister said.
