National forecast for Monday, January 20: Arctic blast retreats

Cold air is the big story across the country with temperatures 10 to 35 degrees below average for two-thirds of the U.S.
Lake effect snow is winding down and we’ve got a pretty quiet forecast in terms of storms with exception to the west where coastal rain a and mountain snow will move in this week. Some of that energy from the West Coast will push into the plains setting up another wintry wet mess midweek.
